At Le Bon Repos, we kept our childlike spirit. Before going to bed, we were always treated to a good night’s story. In the style of the most beautiful tales, the Au Bon Repos story begins a hundred years ago with a couple of lovers determined to make the world dream…

1898-1933

The first house

In 1898, on Place de la Chapelle in Brussels, Guillaume and Louise Dekock opened “Au Grand Mouton Blanc”, their first bedding shop. They then acquired No. 12 rue Blaes to found “Au Bon Repos”, which they passed on to their sons, François and Gabriel. Ten years later, Gabriel and his wife bought two new buildings. His brother-in-law developed the store by offering exclusive products.

1940 - 1957

The dark years

The Dekock family, who have become a benchmark for bedding in Brussels, face war. Their lorry was requisitioned, stopping deliveries. It wasn’t until 1944, with a new vehicle, that business picked up again. After François died, Gabriel took over the running of the two shops. With his son Roger, he expanded the range and developed a furniture division.

1958 - 1972

There's no stopping us

In 1958, the Universal Exhibition confirmed their success with the presentation of occasional beds. Gabriel and Roger united the two brands under the name “Au Bon Repos” and diversified their range with carpets, wallpaper, electrical appliances and furniture. The arrival of Lattoflex bed bases revolutionised the market. The shop grew without moving, adopting a new logo.

1973 - 2024

Ever more united

In 1973, after Roger’s death, his widow Christiane continued the business with the support of her sons. For 47 years, the family worked passionately to maintain its values. In 2019, the new generation, led by Grégory, Steve and Bertrand, is modernising the shop.

Today, Bon Repos is still present in the centre of Brussels and in the hearts of the people who live there

After more than 125 years in business, Le Bon Repos has changed, its product ranges have been rejuvenated and its objectives have evolved.
